In my current job as Sr. UX Designer / Front End Developer I opperate under the principles of Agile, where the UX Design and Development teams work closely together with the business owners and product team to build both internal and customer-facing web experiences. Our approach is highly iterative; we are constantly wireframing, prototyping, user-testing, designing, building and deploying. Therefore, our products are constantly evolving to fit the particular needs of our end-users. I view my role as being a passionate advocate for the needs of our users. Both qualitative and quantitative feedback inform my design decisions.
Currently I serve as Sr. UX Designer / Front End Developer for Elephant Insurance based in Richmond, VA. Previously, I worked as Sr. UX Designer at Compare.com, and before that a front-end web designer and design resource for Royall & Company (now known as EAB). My focus has been in designing and prototyping websites and applications, in addition to building them using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP. I've hand-coded websites, in addition to using Wordpress as a CMS. I've developed a passion for a fully responsive, mobile-first approach.
Apart from 15 years of web design experience, I've maintained a healthy amount of freelance work for friends and colleagues. Since graduating from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2007 with a BFA in Design, I've tackled a number of web and print design projects. My interest in flyer art led me to experiment at home with screen printing, which I enjoy greatly. In my spare time I am a tired parent of 2 lovely children ;). I also enjoy playing guitar and writing/recording songs.
